Ensure they are eating well and that they are getting plenty of rest. You need to make certain that they are taking their medications (if any) regularly and that they are not having side effects from the medications. You need to make sure there is a lot of activity going on in their lives. You need to make sure all of their daily activities are being done. You need to make sure everything is being done according to their doctor’s directives. You need to make sure if they are forgetting something that they are being reminded about it including checking their vital signs.
The need for a caregiver may arise in a variety of situations. It may not even occur to some individuals that they need a caregiver until it is too late for them to act. Unless they see a physician and are informed that they have a problem, they may not be aware that they have a problem. There is a possibility that they may not be aware of the ineffectiveness of the medication they are taking. Some family members are unaware that their loved one is having complications due to a long-term illness or worse, a treatment program. Before they realise something is wrong, it may be too late for them to do anything about it.
